For this our core focus is the deployment of large-scale heat pumps that utilize waste heat and natural renewable sources—such as air, shallow geothermal, lake-, river, sea-water or sewage—to generate temperatures of up to 150°C hot water and 300 °C of steam. But also cold for cooling purposes ! This technology is ideally suited for district heating & cooling (DHC) networks and energy-intensive sectors like paper, food & beverage, chemicalor pharmaceutical production.
Large heat pumps offer clear environmental, economic, and social benefits. They reduce dependence on volatile fossil fuel markets and significantly lower CO₂ emissions to help meeting the climate goals. Additionally, they enable the efficient integration of renewable energy, support grid stability, by mitigating renewables curtailment or meaningless minus tariffs. In Esbjerg, Denmark, in December 2024 Everllence’s first mega seawater heat-pump with CO2 as refrigerant went in operation supplying25,000 households with heat and cutting CO₂ emissions by 120,000 tons annually over former coal CHP plant.
Heat-Pumps also foster sector coupling by e.g. cooling Data Centers, Carbon Capture (CCS) and electrolyzers or using their waste heat as heat source.
